Skin diseases in dogs and cats are one of the most common reasons for visiting a veterinarian. Itching, redness, hair loss or the appearance of sores can be a sign of an allergy, infection or a deeper problem that requires careful examination.
In our veterinary hospital, we use a dermatological approach in order to find the cause, not just alleviate the symptoms. Timely diagnosis and targeted treatment are key to the successful treatment of conditions such as skin infections, allergies and inflammations, ensuring a better quality of life and long-term alleviation of discomfort for pets.
The dermatological examination includes a detailed assessment of the skin, hair and ears, and, if necessary, also includes additional diagnostic procedures such as:
- cytology tests – microscopic analysis of skin cells to detect parasites, bacteria or fungi,
- coat inspection (trichogram) – assessment of the structure and health of the hair,
- Wood’s lamp examination – help in recognizing fungal infections,
- examination of the auditory tract (otoscopy or video otoscopy) – visual assessment of inflammation or foreign bodies in the ear,
- sampling and sample processing for additional microbiological, mycological and PCR analyses in cooperation with reference laboratories,
- skin punch biopsy – taking a sample for pathohistological analysis when a deeper examination of the cause of the change is needed.
In addition to diagnostics, we offer advice on nutrition and skin and hair care, as proper nutrition and appropriate products are often an important part of successful treatment of dermatological problems.
Skin problems in pets can be unpleasant and long-lasting, but with the right approach and persistence, most conditions can be successfully kept under control.
Our task is to help your pet feel good in their own skin again. Health, comfort and happiness are always our priority, and healthy skin and shiny hair are just a reflection of this.
